Today -- 22 November 2011 -- is Katie's 15th birthday. We feel fortunate to have had the love and companionship of this incredibly lovable Siamese cat for so long, and hope she'll remain happy and healthy for many years to come.
Early this morning, Doug drew my attention to the flowers on our silky oak (Grevillea robusta), a tall tree growing in our garden. The flowers were literally dripping with nectar.
In one of the photos you can see droplets of sweet-tasting nectar on Doug's hand; and in others, see the beads of black nectar and golden pollen within each flower spike.
I'm going to make a point of remembering this day (Katie's birthday), linking it to nectar dripping from the masses of flowers that have turned our silky oak golden in sunhine falling so generously from a Queensland sky.
