School fetes are important social events in Mitchell, outback Queensland.
Yesterday's St Patrick's Fete was held in brilliant sunshine and had activities to entertain kids and adults alike. A yabby race, a performance by the Mitchell School Band, a display of vintage cars, a jumping castle, face painting, cake and sweet stalls, arts and crafts, jumble sales, and food and drinks were some of the things on offer.
Ben -- a young friend and neighbour -- enjoyed having his face painted.
