Naked Ladies in early autumn
A heavy musky perfume hangs over the flowers of the Belladonna lily, a stunning South African flower.
Naked stalks sprout from bulbs -- in early autumn -- bursting into clusters of dramatic pink flowers. Later come the leaves.
Commonly called Naked ladies, the Belladonna lilies in our garden send me the message: summer is nearly over. And that saddens me.
