Just walking in the rain and reading: Phillip Island

Lightly falling rain didn't spoil our beach walk; in fact the rain intensified the smell of salt and seaweed and firmed up the sand. The rain didn't stop the dogs going for a swim, nor did it stop me beach-combing and finding this starfish tangled up in flotsam.

That's one of the good things about having dogs; it encourages you to walk when perhaps you'd think, "Oh, it's too wet to walk." Instead, we walked in the rain with our two shepherds and returned to the house refreshed.

The exercise was especially good for me because -- apart from writing my blog -- I spent the rest of the day reading Nights of Rain and Stars by Maeve Binchy. I love the warmth, humour and compassion that this author brings to the story.

A shocking tragedy throws four strangers unexpectedly together at a Greek tavern. Here is an author with a great understanding of human nature, and a location that makes you wish you were there too. It was a great read!
