58 inches of rain boosts vegetation in and around Mitchell

The 58 inches of rain received last year in Mitchell has given the vegetation a real boost.

Jenny and Roly Walker's plot of exotic native trees (which suffered during the seven-year drought) are flourishing. So much so, our florist in Mitchell (owned by artist, Laura Douglas) has a supply of wonderful native leaves, flowers and exotic seed cases for Mother's Day, as well as for a local wedding held this afternoon down by the river.

On my walk along the river, to the bridge, some of the grasses are shoulder height. The council has done a great job mowing the grass between the road and the river, so all looks neat and tidy for the Mitchell Agricultural Show to be held this coming Monday and Tuesday.
